Chelsea have officially announced a new contract extension for Cole Palmer until 2033. The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has signed a nine-year deal with enhanced terms after impressing for Chelsea last season.

Palmer has scored 25 goals and provided 15 assists in 45 appearances in his first season with the Blues after joining from Manchester City for £42.5m last summer.

He set or matched club records along the way and made his mark on the international stage with England, becoming only the second player in the country’s history to score in a European Championship final.

‘I’m delighted to sign this new deal,’ Cole, 22, said. ‘I achieved a lot in my first season here and hopefully I can continue to experience great things at this club, both on a personal level and in terms of bringing success and trophies to Chelsea.’

Chelsea are aiming to repay the England international, who scored in the 2-1 Euro 2024 final defeat to Spain in July.

Palmer is on the shortlist for the PFA and Young Player of the Year awards, which will be announced in Salford next week, and has already scooped the 2023-24 Premier League Young Player of the Year award.

The Blues face Manchester City in their Premier League opener on Sunday, with Enzo Maresca set to kick off the campaign against his former boss, ยูฟ่าเบท with whom he won the treble in 2022-23 as Pep Guardiola’s right-hand man.

Last season, Maresca led Leicester to promotion back to the Premier League by winning the Championship.
