Manchester United have a bad news as Luke Shaw set to miss the start of the 2024-25 season with a calf injury.

Manchester United confirmed in a statement that Shaw suffered the injury at the start of pre-season training, adding that he was working hard on his rehabilitation and was hopeful he would be available after the first international break.

The 20-year-old is expected to miss Manchester United’s Premier League games against Fulham, Brighton and Liverpool.

Shaw suffered a hamstring injury but returned for England in the quarter-finals of Euro 2024 and even started in the 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

The left-back missed the Community Shield defeat to Manchester City on penalties and his absence leaves Erik ten Hag’s side สมัคร ufabet with youngster Harry Amass as the sole option at left-back, with natural centre-back Lisandro Martinez starting in that position on Saturday.

Tyrell Malacia has also been out of action for almost a year and is continuing his rehabilitation at Carrington.

The former Southampton man has regularly struggled with injuries over his career so far, with this being the latest in a long line of fitness setbacks.

Shaw’s understudy at left-back, Tyrell Malacia, missed the entirety of last season with a knee injury and is still not available to play.

Lisandro Martinez played at left-back in Saturday’s Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley, with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the middle of defence.

Erik ten Hag is already short in defence after a serious injury to new signing Leny Yoro, which has sidelined him for three months.
